Hi, I’m Sam -

When I had my first child, I knew I wanted to provide nutrient-dense food and an outdoor space where my children could explore, learn, and simply be.

I read hundreds of books, tested ideas, made mistakes, and slowly learned how to shape a garden around real life — not perfection.

Now, I grow fruit year-round, veges, flowers, and perennials alongside chickens, a puppy, and honeybees in ways that feels abundant.

I started the White Strawberries podcast because I believe one of the best things we can do is learn how to grow well — for ourselves, our families, our communities, and the planet.

I’m not a full-time homesteader. I juggle parenting, teaching, podcasting, and adventure, and I’ve learned that the most sustainable gardens are the ones designed to quietly support your life

My Garden Journey v. My Mum Journey

A lot of woman tap into a holistic, centred, value based way of being when they give birth. For me I wanted space, nature, time, low-tech, fresh air to offset the hustle, driving, tech-based schooling, factory farming and pesticide mono-crops!

I know, I know
, this sounds a little eccentric. Believe me, in real life you wouldn't know... I wear normal clothes, invest in real-estate, work as a high school teacher, applaud from the side lines of small children kicking and throwing balls.

But maybe you would know??... from my freedom (I don't need to work full-time), my body (VO2 of 43- low key brag), my kids grades and positive attitude (taking full credit, long may it last!)

When my children and I are home, we have a slower pace.  It's how I've designed it. I love it. My kids know nothing different. That's what they say, right, intelligence is setting a live you want to live and living it.

And you know what?
It's been such a joy to link parenting with gardening. Grape vines and boysenberries grow up their playground, my kids can identify edible weeds and harvest cape gooseberries. In a world of AI, what's left? Our bodies, our relationships with each other, our space, and our clear minds

It's my belief that gardening could be the most important thing anyone can do! Massive statement, but for now, I stand by it!
